NBA and Embassy of Sweden partner with Beogradska Pčela Movement - you are invited to join us in first Urban Bee Hub of Belgrade at Beogradski Silosi

In the last ten years, bees have been more endangered than ever before with global climate change, but also with negligence of individuals using toxic chemicals and banned pesticides that has led to increased bees extinction.

That is why urban beekeeping has flourished in so many metropolis worldwide by placing beehives in public places, roofs of buildings, public spaces and parks. With the intention of including Belgrade on the world map of urban beekeeping and to give their contribution to the protection of bees, several civil society organizations gathered around the love of bees and sustainable living.

Gaia Movement, Belgrade Association of Beekeepers, Supernatural and Mad Med, bring a unified concept of Urban Beekeeping to Dorćol, right next to Beogradski Silosi with the aim of supporting bees who share the same ecosystem with Belgraders, but also to create a common space for coexistence in harmony with nature.

Embassy of Sweden has decided to support the project of Beogradski pčelinjak in its development activities aiming to become a scientific hub for research and development but also education and inclusion of beekeeping as a profession. Open amphitheater for workshops and education of young generations and women, a new oasis of honey plants but also an innovative healing room with air from the hives, are only some of them.

NBA is very excited and proud to be the very first business or organization to have branded beehives in this urban bee hub and participate in this inspiring environmental project with Mad Med and David Mardešić.

You as NBA members are invited to join us in raising the awarness of the importance of bees and to participate in creating a likeminded community of companies who walk their talk towards sustainability goals. Branded beehives and shared honey produced in it, open air meetings in the apiery or your team building inspired by bees behavioral models, are just some of many ways you can choose how to take part and connect this initiative with your CSR or Sustainability activities.
